“Sunday, June 30, 2024, is the deadline for submission of names of candidates’ polling agents to the Commission’s LGA offices”.
Campaigns by political parties will end on July 11, while July 13, 2024, is the election date, with run-off elections (if any) billed for July 20, 2024, he concluded.
Meanwhile, ahead of the LG elections, Sheriff Oborevwori, the state governor has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not accept any candidate through the backdoor.
There will be no imposition of candidates in the forthcoming LG election, declared the governor.
On Sunday, Oborevwori, who made the declarations at the PDP Delta Central Stakeholders meeting held at his Osubi country home, said: “Delta State is one of the most solid states.
“Only popular candidates that the people love and generally accepted by all stakeholders, will emerge as candidates of the party”.
“We will not accept any candidate through the back door. For anybody to emerge, it must be a collective decision from the wards and must be a popular candidate. Collectively we must agree on candidates so that the primary election can be smooth.”
