Delta govt committed to addressing flood challenges

Flooding: NBM donates food items, cash to victims

Residents of Nwanzeasu Lane and the stretch of river bank up to the area behind the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State capital, have been assured of the Government’s concern as regards the flood situation and its impact on the people of the area.

Addressing the residents, Ejiro Etacherure, Commissioner, of the Bureau for Special Duties, assured them of the State Government’s commitment to addressing the challenges of flooding on the people of the area.

The commissioner, who was on an on-the-spot assessment visit to the area to see the extent of the damage caused by the last flood, encouraged the people to be patient and courageous as the State Government is interested in their welfare and ready to assist them in whatever way possible.

Also, a residential lodge for corps members, situated in the area and accommodating about 92 Corps members in Asaba, the State capital was affected by the flood water.

The Corps members were advised to be safety conscious as regards flood disasters and to improve themselves to make positive contributions to the development of Nigeria.

Responding, Emmanuel Dinneya, the president of the Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship, Delta State Chapter, thanked the Delta State Government and the Commissioner for the visit and for showing concern for their plight.

He promised that Corps members under his watch would continue to be on good behaviour as they serve the nation in Delta State.
