Dangote Refinery to start with Diesel, JetA1 in January

Dangote Refinery starts petrol export to West African countries

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is set to begin production of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and JetA1 (aviation fuel) in January 2024, while the production of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) is being delayed by the supply of crude oil in installments.

Sources confirmed to BusinessDay that a cargo from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO) containing one million barrels sailed from Agbami to Dangote Refinery’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) where it was discharged into the refinery’s crude oil tanks.

The 1-million-barrel shipment is the first of a 6-million-barrel commitment from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

“Ultimately, what that (the one million barrels receipt) means is that by January, maybe in the second week, we should start having diesel, after which aviation fuel will come before we now cascade to PMS,” the source stated.
