Dangote Coal Mines Limited has signed a Community Development Agreement (CDA) with host communities in Benue State, committing to deliver sustainable development projects that will drive long-term growth in the region.

Nuhu Elujah, a representative from Dangote Coal, stated this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

Elijah said that the partnership would see Dangote Coal lead initiatives focused on improving key sectors such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, and water.

He also said that the agreement was a “breakthrough in our effort to touch lives.”

He further explained that this agreement establishes a clear framework for supporting the Abache Community, ensuring the implementation of various vital projects to benefit the surrounding areas.

Bimbo Adams, a representative of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, described the agreement as ushering in “a new era for peace and development,” affirming its importance for both the local communities and the nation as a whole.

Adijetu Usman also represented the federal ministry at the state level during the signing ceremony.

Chief Emmanuel Ikom, the Ward Head of Ugbokolo, praised Dangote Coal Mines for its continuous investment in the three host communities within Okpokwu Local Government Area (LGA), urging the company to keep up its efforts and not lose momentum.

Sunday Onoko Aluh, a representative of the Abache community, expressed gratitude for the company’s role in making the CDA a reality.

He also assured Dangote Coal of his community’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and collaboration, essential for ensuring the rapid development of the region.

Traditional leaders attending the event commended Dangote Coal for its ongoing interventions and numerous social programs. They described the agreement as a “win-win” for all parties involved, setting the stage for continued growth and cooperation for the benefit of the host communities and the wider Benue State.
