The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday tendered a video recording of President Bola Tinubu’s speech delivered during his state visit to Brazil as part of its case in the ongoing cyberstalking trial against Omoyele Sowore activist.
Proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja saw the DSS present the video of the president’s address delivered on August 26, 2025, during his official visit to Brazil, in support of its cyberstalking allegation against Sowore.
The footage was played in open court as lead prosecution counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, examined Cyril Nosike, the first prosecution witness and a DSS operative, before Justice Mohammed Umar.
In addition to the video, the prosecution tendered documents relating to a social media post allegedly made by Sowore on his X account and on Meta (formerly Facebook), in which the president was described as a “criminal,” alongside public reactions to the post and a certificate of compliance.

Justice Umar admitted the materials as exhibits, noting that defence counsel, Marshal Abubakar, reserved his objections until the stage of final written addresses.
After the completion of Nosike’s testimony-in-chief, the defence sought an adjournment to enable it to study the witness’s statement and other documents earlier served on them.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter until January 27 for the cross-examination of the first prosecution witness and continuation of proceedings.
Under the amended charge filed on December 5 and marked FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025, Sowore is the sole defendant.
The amendment followed the removal of X Inc. (formerly Twitter) and Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook), which had been listed alongside Sowore as co-defendants in the original charge.
