CUPP opens Abuja secretariat Thursday

PDP hosts APC defectors in Abuja

Barely three weeks after forming an alliance between the PDP and 38 other political parties to field single presidential candidate in 2019, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) will open its in Abuja on Thursday.

The office will be located in Wuse 2 District of Abuja, a source confided in BusinessDay on Thursday.

It was also gathered that the event will commence by 10am.

CUPP is a coalition of 39 political parties namely the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party (LP) among others.

Confirming the development at a dinner in honour of APC National Assembly members in Abuja, PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the secretariat will be a one-stop shop for all the political parties that signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

“You are aware that we formed an association of political parties that have come together, for the first time in the history of our country, CUPP. And I believe that tomorrow (today), they will officially open their office for the public so that all the political parties can interact and have one-stop secretariat to deal with issues of this country,” he said.

Senate President Bukola Saraki was represented at the event by Dino Melaye, a recent defector from APC to PDP.
