Kwara debunks COVID-19 case in state, begins N154m palliatives

In compliance with the directives by the Kwara state government that schools be closed down and civil servants should work from home to curtail the spread of Coronavirus, schools and Ministries, Departments and Agencies  (MDAs) of Government were deserted on Monday.

Speaking with BusinessDay in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, Elizabeth Feyisayo Afolayan, the Principal of Senior Secondary Schools ST. Anthony Ilorin, who was in school to submit a document to the State Ministry of Education, said government had done the right thing.

“The virus as we are hearing in the news has no cure. Prevention they say is better than cure, it is better we take steps to prevent the virus than looking for cure. Already, in Nigeria we have about 36 confirmed cases – two are discharged free and one death case.

“I believe by the grace of God and His intervention, He will stem the spread Coronavirus.”

She advised Nigerians to comply with the directives for everyone to be safe, saying “though, only God can keep us safe, we too should listen to our leaders for everything to be well.”

Other schools visited such as HIS GRACE Shools, Government Day Secondary School Tanke and Ansarul Nursery and Primary school Okekere Ilorin have only security guards each at the schools premises.

However, Ministries of Information, Education and Tertiary have principal officers on ground to put some things into places.
