CIoD Nigeria conference to deepen conversation on economic diversification

The Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD) has said that its upcoming conference will deepen the conversation on economy diversification.

This was noted by Fatumata Coker, chairperson, national organising committee, 2023 Annual Directors’ Conference, Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria during a courtesy visit to BusinessDay on Tuesday.

“This year’s conference aims to attract industry leaders, fostering discussions critical to the conference focus,” Coker said.

She said the conference scheduled to take place from November 16th-17th 2023 in Abuja will bring together experts from the public and private sectors to discuss ways to diversify the Nigerian economy and create jobs.

The Conference will address the theme “Driving Nigeria’s Economic Transformation and Diversification: The Role of Corporate Governance.”

“We anticipate insightful discourse on deepening the conversation on the need for diversification of Nigeria’s economy,” Coker noted.

Notable dignitaries expected to attend the opening session include Doris Uzoka, Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, and Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, among others.

The two-day event is structured into four plenary sessions and will feature a distinguished panel of guest speakers, discussants, and moderators, comprising eminent personalities from various sectors.

“This year’s conference aims to attract industry leaders, fostering discussions critical to the conference’s focus. It is tailored to appeal to young directors, entrepreneurs, and millennials, offering them mentorship, networking opportunities, and a platform for expanding their knowledge in corporate governance,” Coker said.

“The presence of these influential stakeholders ensures that the discussions and recommendations at the conference will significantly contribute to shaping policy outcomes for the nation’s economic advancement,” Coker added.

On the inaugural day of the conference, scheduled for Thursday November 16, 2023 Ernest Ndukwe will preside as the Chairman of the Opening Ceremony.

The event will feature a Special Business Meets Government Dinner on Thursday November 16, 2023, an exclusive gathering uniting prominent Business Leaders with key public sector figures.

The Special Guest of Honour at this dinner is Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker, House of Representatives and the Chairman will be Jim Ovia, Chairman, Zenith Bank. Guest of Honour is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the Guest Speaker is Bola Adesola, Chairman, Ecobank PIc.
