Church of God Mission moves to tackle unemployment

As part of its contribution towards reduction of unemployment ravaging the society, Church of God Mission organised a round table conference on real estate investment in Lagos.

The annual event which tagged ‘the round table Lekki’ is said to be a business development, economic empowerment and networking forum created to share information that will assist business, business owners, investors, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and individuals to take advantage that abound in their environment.

Speaking at this year’s event which came under the theme,” Current trends in financing real estate transactions”, the convener of the event, Rev. Chris Ubamadu of the Church of God Mission International Inc. Garden City Oniru, explained that their strategy to use free conferences, seminars, and networking platforms to stimulate interest and aid economic emancipation was to assist the government in reducing the huge level of unemployment in the society today.

Ubamadu, observed that the conference is growing to become the hub for the exchange of information on real estate in the Lekki corridor.

According to him, the event each year focuses on new trends, new development and new initiatives that impact on real estate business in what he described as the Africa’s fastest-growing real estate destination.

He recalled that the programme in 2021 played host to over 950 businesses and numerous real estate transactions and added that the 2022 edition would host over 2,000 businesses and individuals, both in-person and online.

On the reason his church decided to power such conference, he said: “Our vision is to release potentials; creating a Godly world. We focus on helping people have better lives, fess from the bondage of poverty, ignorance sickness and disease. This we do with a deep conviction that God has called us to be solution providers to a world in need’’.

The CEO of Eximia Reality Co. Ltd, Hakeem Ogunnirian who spoke on “overview on the real estate sector in Nigeria: opportunities in Lekki,” believed that the fundamentals of the sectors are very strong and stressed the need for the public to tap on the opportunities available.

Ogunnirian, advised those intending to venture in to real estate business to ensure they get proper approval of the properties so as to stand against inhibitors to success in that area.

Also speaking, MD, Kelkey global limited, Precious Okojie who talked about, ‘real estate financing,’ described funding as one of the challenges of business.

While stating that getting global grants to finance business is ideal, Okojie said: “There is global funding, but how to you access this grant; you have to get to level of categories of what people want.

“You must have the ability to returns, if you build houses in remote areas, people may not want to buy and your money will get stock, so you need to consider the environment before building.’’

On his part, proprietor, Furst Legal, Ogheneochuko Pedro, who spoke on, ‘property law with regards to real estate transactions’ lamented the high rate of fraudulent land transactions in the society and advised buyers to ensure they obtain genuine papers from the owners.

While, president PWAN group, Jane Obioma Onwumere who delved into, ‘personal investment opportunities in real estate’ urged participants at the conference to start investing in real estate, adding that one does not need much to commence such investment.
