Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, on Thursday led heads of security agencies on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State, as part of renewed efforts to restore calm and entrench lasting peace.
During the visit, the COAS received a comprehensive operational briefing from the Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, highlighting ongoing coordinated efforts to contain threats and stabilize affected communities.
In a statement signed by Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, made available to Journalists, the statement quoted the army chief as saying
“The Nigerian Army remains fully committed to safeguarding all law-abiding citizens and will continue to work tirelessly with sister security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across Plateau State,” Shaibu said.
“We urge residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive by complying with existing security measures, including the curfew, while cooperating with ongoing operations and investigations,” he added.
The COAS also met with community leaders and residents during the visit, reassuring them of the military’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in the state amid heightened security concerns.
