The programme will provide opportunities for volunteer work, job placements, and work experience.

This initiative, which is flexible and can extend for up to 20 weeks, is designed to help single mothers achieve their educational and employment aspirations at no cost.

The programme will provide valuable resources, including labour market insights, career and education planning, job search assistance, and career decision-making support.

Both in-person and virtual options are available to accommodate participants’ needs.

The key details include:

  • A week-long orientation to introduce participants to the programme.
  • Career and employment workshops covering life skills, career and labour market insights, CV and cover letter writing, computer skills, and more.
  • Education preparation workshops, along with support in identifying and applying for educational courses.
  • Access to short-term courses is essential for employment, such as First aid training, software proficiency, and safety certifications.
  • Opportunities for volunteer work, job placements, and work experience.
  • Innovative services such as Lifemark’s Clothing Closet, Community Pantry, Resource Centre, and Virtual Career Centre.

Who is eligible?

  • The programme is open to applicants who meet the following conditions:
  • Identify as a single mother.
  • Reside within the Calgary Metropolitan Area.
  • Are aged 18 or older.
  • Are unemployed or marginally employed.
  • Are not enrolled in K-12 education under the School Act.
  • Are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act?
  • Are eligible to work and train within Canada.
