The Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency APC Primary Election/Affirmation Committee, alongside party stakeholders and APC members, oversaw the peaceful, transparent, and credible conduct of the 2026 primary election.
The Returning Officer, Lawal Garba, handled the collation process and certification of results in line with the procedures guiding the exercise.
According to the certified results, the exercise recorded a total of 35,825 registered voters, with 18,263 accredited voters and 17,832 total votes cast.
The breakdown of results across the three Local Government Areas showed a decisive outcome for Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari. In Daura Local Government Area, out of 6,708 valid votes cast, Yusuf secured 6,386 votes, while Awwal Lawal Daura polled 322 votes. In Mai’Adua Local Government Area, Yusuf recorded 5,102 votes against Awwal’s 137 votes. In Sandamu Local Government Area, Yusuf further consolidated his lead with 5,849 votes, while Awwal scored 21 votes.
Overall, the Returning Officer declared Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari as the winner with a total of 17,342 votes, while Auwal Lawal Musa polled 480 votes, reflecting the outcome of the contest across the constituency.
The exercise reflected the APC’s internal democratic process, including the use of direct primaries in constituencies where consensus was not reached in line with party guidelines and the Electoral Act.
Although Yusuf Buhari is yet to officially speak on his victory as of the time of filing this report, supporters and APC loyalists celebrated the outcome shortly after the results were announced.
With the victory, Yusuf Buhari is expected to fly the APC flag in the 2027 election for the House of Representatives seat representing Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency.
