At least 20 loggers have been slaughtered and an unspecified number of people abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in the Mafa local government area of Borno State, on Tuesday.

According to CJTF source, the terrorists accused the loggers of stealing and spying on their movement to the military.

He said,” We lost 22 people and dozens of them were abducted. They went to fetch firewood in the bush in the northern part of Mafa town,” the source said. ‘Unfortunately, the terrorists accused them of spying on their movement to the military.”
Also, Amnesty International Nigeria confirmed the incident, stating, “On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, Boko Haram slaughtered 20 internally displaced persons who went to the nearby bush in search of firewood at Mafa, Borno state.
“At least 30 were abducted, some of them children. Those killed had their throats slits or shot at close range. The victims were those subjected to repeated displacements by Boko Haram.
“Boko Haram must end its campaign of vicious and unlawful killings of civilians. Recently, Boko Haram continue their relentless cycle of killings, abductions and looting with utter impunity.
“The Nigerian authorities must do more to protect civilians and bring the suspected perpetrators of all these attacks to justice.”
