Bikiya Graham-Douglas partners MTN, others for 5th Beeta Playwright Competition

The Beeta Universal Arts Foundation (BUAF) led by Bikiya Graham-Douglas, an award-winning actress and producer, has entered into partnership with MTN, Union Bank, and others for the fifth edition of the Beeta Playwright Competition

The competition has produced plays from its previous winners, including ‘Our Son, the Minister’ by Paul Ugbede, ‘Jagagba’ by Abdul Qudus-Ibrahim, ‘Daughters of the

East’ by Achalugo Chioma Ezekobe, and “Black Dust” by Temilolu Fosudo, all of whom have gone on to achieve enormous success.

The theme for this edition, ‘Our Stories, Our Voices,’ has a deadline for all entries from May 30 to June 30, 2022, and calls for entries from indigenous playwrights between the ages of 18-40 who an esteemed panel of judges — made up of Ahmed Yerima, award-winning playwright and professor of the Arts, as chairman; Kenneth Uphopho, director and producer; Ibiso Graham-Douglas, publisher, writer, and producer; Ayo Jai

As is the norm, ten finalists will be treated to a writing camp, from which a winner, who stands to win prizes worth up to N1 million, N500,000, a publishing deal with PaperWorth Books Limited, their play being produced by BUAF and being part of the nationwide University Campus Outreach, will emerge at the grand finale.

For the fifth edition of the Beeta Playwright Competition, BUAF collaborates with Union Bank, Paperworth Book, Olajide & Oyewole LLP Limited, and MTN Foundation, Chairborne Global Services Limited, and Megaletrics.
