The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested seven armed robbers who specialised in phone snatching across the state capital. The suspects were apprehended by police operatives following a swift response to a distress call.
The intervention occurred on May 23, 2026, at approximately 1525 hours, when operatives attached to the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, responded to an ongoing robbery along Adamu Ajiya Street, near Ran Road, Bauchi.
Police Disrupted Local Criminal Network
The prompt arrival of the team led to the immediate containment of the criminal network. Items recovered from the suspects included knives and machetes.
According to Nafiu Habib, the Police Command Spokesman, who signed the official press statement, two victims have already been identified. Operatives have obtained statements from these individuals to aid the ongoing investigation.
Syndicate Faces Transfer to Criminal Investigation Department
The seven suspects have been identified as Uzairu Adamu, Mohd Dahiru, Abubakar Usman, Buhari Suleman, Isa Muhd, Hassan Yusuf, and Hussaini Yusuf. Officials confirmed that all the arrested individuals are between the ages of 20, 21, and 28.
Preliminary investigations indicate that efforts are continuing to apprehend other members of the syndicate who remain at large. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough follow-up investigation.

Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, commended the operatives for their professional and rapid response to the distress call.
The Commissioner urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support the Command’s ongoing drive to rid the state of violent crime.
