Titus Saul Ketkukah, Bauchi State Honourable commissioner of works and transport, on Thursday, said that civil engineering laboratories position the state as a forward-looking state committed to global best practices.

The commissioner said this during the commissioning of the three (3) civil engineering laboratories of asphalt and transportation, soil mechanics and the structural, which were held at the Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA).

He said that the magnificent facilities are not merely a building, but a symbol of progress, innovation, technical excellence and a renewed commitment to quality infrastructure delivery in Bauchi State.

According to him, he said that “Today marks yet another milestone in the determined journey of infrastructural renewal and institutional strengthening under the visionary leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of the state, whose administration continues to redefine governance through practical development, strategic investments and people-oriented projects across the state”

He further said that the laboratories will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, durability and sustainability of roads and transportation infrastructure, provide critical geotechnical analysis necessary for safe, reliable construction projects and will also strengthen the capacity for material testing, structural integrity assessments and engineering research.

“These facilities collectively represent a giant leap toward enhancing engineering standards, improving project quality assurance, and promoting evidence-based infrastructural development in Bauchi State”

“In an era where infrastructure quality determines economic growth, public safety, and sustainable development, this laboratory positions Bauchi State as a forward-looking state committed to global best practices in engineering and construction management.

The commissioner commended the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, for his consistently demonstrated uncommon courage and commitment in revitalising critical sectors across the state.

He said that, particularly in road construction and urban renewal to public buildings, water supply, healthcare facilities, and institutional strengthening, the government continues to make strategic investments aimed at improving the lives of our people.

“This administration understands that infrastructure is not merely about concrete and steel; it is about economic empowerment, job creation, connectivity, safety, and human development”

He urged professionals, stakeholders, and beneficiaries that they must ensure that the facilities are well and properly maintained, effectively utilised, and continuously upgraded to meet evolving engineering demands and technological advancements.

The commissioner, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, calls on the engineers, researchers, students, contractors, and technical personnel to maximise the opportunities that the laboratory offers for innovation, training, quality control, and professional development.

Speaking during the commission, Abdulrahman Mai’Auduga, who is the Director General of the Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA), thanked Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for his personal commitment to the technical and institutional growth of the agency.

Mai’Auduga also expressed his appreciation to the state commissioner of works and transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, for commissioning the laboratories.

He said that the laboratories are fully equipped with standard testing instruments, engineers and technical officers have also received the requisite training, and management has developed standard operating procedures governing sample collection, testing protocols, documentation and reporting.

“We pledge our continued loyalty to his administration’s vision and our unflinching dedication to delivering safe, durable and high-quality public infrastructure for Bauchi State.
