Retired political office holders, civil servants, women and youth leaders from Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State have declared their full support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election in the 2027 general election.

Speaking at a civic reception in honour of Benedett Ekwutosi Okolie, the newly appointed commissioner for Human Capital Development and Poverty Eradication, who hails from Mmaku in Awgu, the stakeholders described Governor Mbah as a “listening and working governor.”

Declaring their stance, the group announced: “Come 2027, there is no vacancy in the Enugu Lion Building.”

Uche Joseph Okolo, chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, who spoke on behalf of the people, praised Governor Mbah for responding to the yearnings of the people and executing developmental projects across all 260 political wards of the state.

“The projects are so glaring that even a blind man cannot deny them,” Okolo said. “In every ward, there is either a completed or ongoing Smart Green School, and Type 2 Primary Health Centres are also being built or already near commissioning.”

Former Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Godwin Udeuhele, described Mbah as the most development-focused leader Enugu State has had since its creation.

“In just two years, we have seen the completion of long-abandoned projects like the Presidential Hotel and the Enugu International Conference Centre. The Awgu Games Village is now in the pipeline. No administration has moved this many projects at once, and yet none has been abandoned,” he stated.

Udeuhele emphasized that the recent appointment of an Awgu indigene as commissioner further reinforces the inclusive nature of Mbah’s leadership.

Another former Commissioner for Information, Ogbuagu Anikwe, hailed the Governor’s security and infrastructure blueprint, describing it as a “super structure” that is transforming roads and communities across Enugu State.

“We see road works in almost every street. Governor Mbah deserves total support to finish what he has started,” Anikwe said.

Eric Okolie, husband of the newly appointed commissioner, expressed joy over the appointment and commended the governor for his confidence in his wife’s capacity. He assured that she would align with the administration’s vision and serve the people diligently.

In her remarks, Commissioner Benedett Okolie pledged to live up to expectations, promising effective service delivery in line with Governor Mbah’s development agenda. She also paid tribute to her late mother, who was a political mobilizer and grassroots leader in their community.
