APC rallies supports, pushes reconciliation ahead of 2027 elections in Kwara

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kwara State on Sunday held a peaceful rally to showcase party unity, mend divisions arising from the recent primary elections, and reaffirm their preparedness for the 2027 general elections.

The event, organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors attracted party faithful and candidates, who emerged from the APC primaries.

Speakers described the gathering as a demonstration of gratitude, solidarity, and confidence in the party’s future.

Addressing participants, at the thanksgiving road walk, Abdulateef Alakawa, the Kwara State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, explained that the rally was organised to thank God for the peaceful conduct of the primaries and to appreciate the APC leadership for what he described as a transparent process that reflected the will of the party members.

According to him, the emergence of candidates through the direct primary election underscored the supremacy of the people’s mandate.

“Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions,” Alakawa said.

He added that the thanksgiving walk was also aimed at mobilising party supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections while reaffirming support for President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Reacting to concerns over aggrieved aspirants, Alakawa dismissed suggestions of disunity within the party, insisting that the APC had already begun reconciliation efforts.

“In every democratic process, there will be winners and others who may not emerge. As far as the APC is concerned, we have no losers. The party has already constituted a reconciliation committee, and we are confident all issues will be resolved,” he stated.

Ahmad Muhammad, the APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, thanked party members for their support during the primaries and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for their leadership.

He particularly praised the decision to zone the governorship ticket to Kwara North, describing it as a demonstration of fairness, equity, and inclusiveness.

“We appreciate the people of Kwara for giving Kwara North the opportunity to produce the next governor. Today’s rally demonstrates the confidence and support the people have for the leadership of Governor Abdulrazaq and the APC,” Muhammad said.

Expressing optimism ahead of the 2027 elections, he added: “We are confident of victory. The APC continues to enjoy the support of the people, and we believe that support will be sustained.”

Also speaking, Olalekan Adewoye, the APC Candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, thanked party leaders at all levels for entrusting him with the party’s ticket.

He described the APC as a united family and maintained that the outcome of the primary election reflected the collective will of party members.

“I am grateful to God and to the leadership of our party for the confidence reposed in me. Without their support, this would not have been possible,” Adewoye said.

Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, the Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, also expressed satisfaction with the turnout, describing it as evidence of the cohesion within the ruling party.

“We are very happy. As you can see, everyone is in a joyous mood,” he said.

Projecting confidence in the party’s political future, Abdulkadri declared that the APC remained firmly in control of the state’s political landscape.

“The future of Kwara State belongs to the APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah. The future is very bright,” he said.

Abdulkadri, however, maintained that the ruling party was focused on strengthening its internal unity rather than worrying about rival political parties.

“We are not afraid. As our leaders have said, there is practically no opposition in Kwara. We will continue to remain united and work together for the progress of the party and the state,” he added.
