APC, party of denial whose broom can’t sweep corruption in Nigeria – Makarfi

Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi on Wednesday described the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a party of denials.

He said the party’s ‘broom’ has never been useful in cleaning up the country and could never be useful with the manner the party is breaking promises it made voluntarily to people before getting to power.

Senator Makarfi, who spoke in Ede, Osun state during the presentation of N250 million scholarship scheme to indigents undergraduates in Osun West Senatorial District by Senator Ademola Adeleke, declared that Nigerians will return PDP to power in 2019.

He said the country has not witnessed any meaningful development under APC’s leadership because the party has decided not to accept responsibility or admit mistakes.

“For us in PDP, we had our flaws and we did not fail to admit them. I have apologised for our wrongdoings. I am using this medium to apologise again. We are sincerely sorry for all our wrongs.

“But just look through the actions of APC, you will discover the party has never taken responsiblity for anything. The brooms has never swept and cannot sweep. So I urge Nigerians to be ready for us. The ruling party is campaigning for our return to power in 2019 already with all the problems it has created. PDP shall return to power next year.

“There is still space under the ‘umbrella’. The space is enough to accommodate all interests and opinions. All we need to do is to agree and be dedicated to our party’s cause. In Osun here, we must work together to return PDP to power next year”, Makarfi.

According to him, the launch of the scholarship scheme was a fulfilment of one of campaign promises of PDP, assuring that the party will continue to serve the interest of the generality of Nigerians.

Addressing the gathering of party faithful in Ede, Senator Ademola Adeleke, said the scheme is a continuation of his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s legacies and urged the 66 beneficiaries drawn across the 10 local government areas in the West Senatorial District to make full use of the opportunity of the scheme.
