The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as fake a purported party membership slip circulating on social media that allegedly shows a notorious terrorist, Mohammed Bello Turji, as a registered member of the ruling party.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC said the document was a fabrication with no link to its membership register or database, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to mislead the public.

Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said all the details on the slip were false and unverifiable, noting that the information did not correspond with the party’s electronic registration and validation records.

“The membership slip is a fabrication, fake and without any association or link, whatsoever, with our membership register and database,” Morka said.

He explained that one of the clearest indications of forgery was the claim that the registration took place in “Ward 13” of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, which he said does not exist.

“The slip purports to be registered in a nonexistent ‘Ward 13’ of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State which only has 10 wards. All other information paraded on the fake slip are nonexistent and certainly not contained in our membership database,” he added.

Morka described the circulation of the document as “vile fabrication,” accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to “hoodwink and confuse members of the public for their own sinister objectives.”

He urged party members and the general public to completely disregard the document, describing it as “highly offensive” and false.

Mohammed Bello Turji is a wanted bandit leader linked to violent attacks and insecurity in parts of Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
