Sharafadeen Alli, a leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator, representing Oyo South, on Wednesday, obtained the broom’s party expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Likewise, Adebayo Adelabu, immediate past Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in the 2027 election in Oyo State, has officially picked up the APC expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2027 Governorship election, making the race to Agodi Government House keener.
Alli was accompanied by Senatorial hopefuls from the State, including Senator Yusuf Akintunde, who is seeking to return to the Senate to represent Oyo Central, and Remi Oseni, who is contesting for the Oyo South Senatorial ticket.
Also present at the APC Secretariat in Abuja were Federal House of Representatives aspirants who picked their nomination forms.
They include Akeem Adeyemi (Oyo Federal Constituency), Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem (Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West Federal Constituency), Akin Alabi (Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency), and Olamiju Alao-Akala (Ogbomoso South/Ogbomoso North/Orire Federal Constituency).
Alli while speaking with newsmen after obtaining his forms, stated that his ambition to govern Oyo State is driven by a desire to deliver effective governance and address developmental gaps at the grassroots level.
While promising to make the government more accessible and people-oriented if elected, he noted that his aspiration is rooted in a commitment to empower communities and improve living standards across the state.
The Senator pointed out that his political journey and prior experience in governance had prepared him for the task ahead.
Reflecting on his tenure as a Local Government Chairman, Alli stressed that he brought governance closer to the people by strengthening institutions, improving infrastructure, and ensuring visible and impactful leadership at the grassroots.
He further highlighted his service as Secretary to the State Government, where he said, he worked behind the scenes to ensure policies were effectively implemented and translated into tangible benefits for citizens.
According to him, as Chief of Staff to former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, I was at the centre of governance, ensuring coordination and effective administration. As the current Senator representing Oyo South, I have consistently advocated for my constituents through legislation and interventions aimed at improving livelihoods across different sectors.
He expressed confidence in his readiness to lead the State, pledging esidents of purposeful leadership and immediate action upon assumption of office if elected in 2027.
However, Adelabu, who was represented Ajiboye Akande, his aide, to obtain the forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, promised residents and indigenes of the state unprecedented development if elected governor in 2027.
Obtaining the form by Adelabu ends months of speculation over his next political step following his ministerial exit.
