Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially handed over newly acquired firefighting trucks to the State Fire Service in a significant step towards strengthening the state’s fire service to enhance public safety.

Aiyedatiwa, who spoke on Thursday in Akure during the handing over of the trucks to the service, emphasized that the acquisition of the new firefighting trucks is part of broader efforts to enhance disaster response and ensure the safety of all residents.

According to him, an efficient fire service is critical to protecting communities, businesses, and critical infrastructure.

The governor, who stressed that the government will continue to invest in modern firefighting equipment and personnel training, however, urged the firefighters and emergency responders to maximize the use of the equipment in delivering efficient and professional services to the public.

He maintained that the newly commissioned Investment House in Akure would also serve as a hub for economic activities, fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors.

He noted that his predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s vision was to establish a one-stop shop for investment activities to enhance the ease of doing business in Ondo State.

“Today, we gather to witness the realization of that vision, this Investment House will serve as a hub for economic activities and investment promotion, providing a conducive environment for both public and private sector partnerships. The strategic location of this building in the heart of Akure will facilitate unhindered access for investors, thereby opening up our State to the global investment community”, he said

Aiyedatiwa also reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing all inherited projects to prevent abandonment and wastage of resources. He described the successful completion of the Investment House as a testament to this resolve, noting that Ondo State is becoming stronger and more competitive in attracting investments.

Charging the occupants of the Investment House to ensure proper maintenance and judicious use of the facilities, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that preserving the edifice is a collective responsibility.

Speaking at the event, Olawoye Abiola, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing expressed gratitude to the governor for equipping the youth with the necessary tools for innovation and entrepreneurship. He noted that the governor’s vision is focused on positioning Ondo State as a thriving investment hub while enhancing human capital development and enterprise-driven initiatives.

The Administrative Secretary of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), Emmanuel Omomowo, also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to improving the business environment in the state and described the commissioning of the Investment House as another milestone in the administration’s efforts to attract investors and ensure economic prosperity.
