Again, Reps ask FG to declare state of emergency on security

Reps congratulate INEC on successful conduct of Ekiti governorship election

The House of Representatives has for the umpteenth time, called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on security nationwide in line with an earlier resolution of the House.

This call is coming barely a week after the House made resolutions, part of which requested President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently declare a state of emergency on the security sector so as to effectively tackle the menace.

Making a similar resolution on Thursday at plenary, the House further called on the Federal Government to urgently reorganise the security architecture to properly accommodate and fast-track the creation of state police.

This was sequel to the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance: “The attack and destruction of the police station and the killing of two police officers in Obosi, Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State”, sponsored by Obinna Chidoka (PDP-Anambra).

Moving the motion, Chidoka said the police station at Obosi town in Idemili North and South Federal Constituency was attacked in the morning by unknown persons killing two police inspectors and carting away arms and ammunition from the armoury of the police station.
