Africa Insurtech launches ‘The Bridge’ to spotlight the InsurTech space in Africa

To promote innovation in the insurance-technology(InsurTech) ecosystem in Africa and bring the spotlight to players passionately reverse-engineering the insurance space via technology, Africa Insurtech Rising(AIR) with the support of Insuretech Connect(ITC) has launched ‘The Bridge’ – a summer innovative programme for start-ups/founders in Africa.

It is an initiative that will identify and showcase innovative insurance technology products and solutions created by start-ups/founders to stimulate new and existing players that will shape, reshape and unlock new value chains and markets in the insurance industry in Africa.

Selected start-ups/founders will be provided with B2B opportunities, mentorship, visibility, grants, and sparring opportunities.

“We are excited to be hosting ‘The Bridge’ summer program to highlight the unique startups bringing much-needed innovation via technology to the insurance industry throughout Africa,” Joe Akinlua, business development, and partnerships, Africa Insurtech Rising said in a statement.

“A partnership with a global brand like ITC(Las Vegas) will have a tremendous impact on raising awareness of the opportunities arising in our environs and emerging markets,” Akinlua said.

Other benefits for selected start-ups include sparring sessions with top insurtechs and corporates, business development opportunities with specific corporates/partners, insurtech innovation community access, and membership of the international insurtech hubs among others.

In addition, the winner will receive a complimentary kiosk and speaking slot on ITC Vegas 2021 demo stage and finalists will receive complimentary tickets to ITC Vegas 2021.

Interested start-ups with the following criteria; be an eligible entity, have products offering relevant to the insurance industry that addresses technology opportunities, solution/product should range from ideation phase to having a minimum viable product (MVP) that has a planned launch or already launched (early pre-seed to seed phases) can log on to https://africainsurtechrising.com.ng/summeriscoming/ to apply.
The application process opens 1st May, 2021 and closes 4th June, 2021.

The early programme partners and supporters are; The Microsinsurance Company, Africa Fintech Network, Findexable, Curacel, Kakbima, The Digital Insurance Agenda (DIA) community, Market Minds UK, and Sonr global.
