Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, says he will inaugurate 10,000 canvassers in Ijesa North on June 10 in a major show of political strength and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the state’s next governorship election, as his campaign intensifies efforts to consolidate support across key voting blocs in the state.
The planned inauguration, announced by Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, is expected to bring together thousands of supporters from the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency and marks one of the largest grassroots voter-engagement exercises undertaken by the Adeleke re-election campaign. Campaign officials say the initiative is aimed at boosting voter awareness, expanding door-to-door outreach and strengthening the governor’s political base in Ijesa North as preparations for the election gather momentum.
The announcement comes barely 24 hours after Olajengbesi received the Accord Party’s Certificate of Return as the party’s candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ijesa-born lawyer expressed gratitude to the people of Ijesa North and members of the Accord Party for entrusting him with the party’s ticket. He described the planned inauguration as the beginning of a broader political movement aimed at deepening grassroots participation, expanding development opportunities and strengthening democratic engagement across the constituency.
Olajengbesi, who also serves as Convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, said voter awareness and political consciousness remain critical to the success of Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid and the broader quest for effective representation in the constituency.
According to him, the mobilisation of 10,000 canvassers will significantly strengthen the campaign’s outreach efforts across communities in Oriade and Obokun local government areas while helping to communicate the achievements and vision of the Adeleke administration to voters at the grassroots.
“Thank you, Ijesa North, for entrusting me with the Accord Party ticket to contest for the House of Representatives election for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency,” he said.
“We are commencing this historic movement to reposition Ijesa North for greater development, effective representation and shared prosperity with the inauguration of 10,000 canvassers for Governor Ademola Adeleke across Ijesa North on June 10, 2026.”
He said the initiative would mark the beginning of a collective effort to secure greater opportunities for residents and ensure leadership that reflects the aspirations of the people.
Olajengbesi added that Governor Adeleke would personally inaugurate the canvassers, a move he said underscores the importance of the mobilisation drive and the administration’s commitment to sustaining development in the area.
The Accord Party candidate also reaffirmed his determination to challenge long-serving lawmaker, Wole Oke, who has represented the constituency for about 24 years. He maintained that the people of Oriade/Obokun deserve stronger representation, expanded opportunities and purposeful leadership capable of advancing the interests of the constituency.
