David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has assured Nigerians that the party will chart a different course of governance if voted into power in 2027, pledging to deliver purposeful leadership, security and national renewal.
Mark gave the assurance on Wednesday while delivering his welcome address at the opening of the ADC’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
He said the gathering came at a critical moment for both the party and the country, as citizens increasingly demand equity, justice and a Government that prioritises their welfare.
Mark painted a grim picture of Nigeria’s current state, citing rising insecurity, kidnapping and violence as major concerns. He criticised the APC-led government, saying it has failed to effectively address these challenges.
He, however, expressed optimism that the ADC is prepared to “do things differently,” promising to offer Nigerians a safer, more inclusive and better-governed country if given the mandate in 2027.
He commended party stakeholders for their commitment and sacrifices, noting that their dedication continues to position the ADC as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the responsibility before the party is not only political but also moral, requiring unity, discipline and strict adherence to democratic principles.
“Our task is clear—to reposition the ADC as the foremost platform for national renewal,” Mark said. He urged members to strengthen internal structures, expand grassroots engagement and build bridges across regions, religions and generations.
The former Senate President stressed that unity within the party remains non-negotiable, calling on leaders to close ranks and deepen consultations in order to sustain confidence in the party’s processes and leadership.
He also appreciated state chairmen for embracing dialogue despite prevailing challenges.
