250,000 benefit as Oyo offers free health care services

Not less than 250,000 people have benefited from the free health mission, organised by the Oyo State government in conjunction with Omituntun for Life Foundation.

The beneficiaries were treated on ailments like hernia, surgical operations for appendicitis and child delivery.

Other areas that the free health mission covered were eye test with and distribution of free glasses, cataract surgery, dental services and HIV test.

Wife of Oyo State governor, Tamunominini Makinde said the move was to promote healthcare service delivery and socio-economic development in the state.

Speaking on the significance of the event at Adeoyo Ring Road Hospital, Ibadan, Tamunominini said “as a trader, if you are not healthy, you cannot go to the market to conduct the business of buying and selling.

“If you are a teacher and you are not healthy, you cannot go to the school to teach the students, so health is wealth.”

The first lady noted that the free health mission which spanned 23 days was targeted at the common people who have health-related issues.

The first lady commended the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde for the support the initiative. She also lauded other partners for what she called their tireless hard work towards the success of the programme.

The state commissioner for health, Bashir Bello appreciated the efforts of the first lady towards delivering free healthcare services to the people of the state.

He also gave kudos to officials of Omituntun For Life Foundation and other health personnel, drawn from several hospitals, who played vital roles towards the success of the programme.
