Twenty five women Vice Chairmen in all Local Government Councils in Niger State, North-Central Geo-Political Zone of the Country, have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for a second term in their offices.
Safiya Tanimu Nasidi, Chairperson of the Niger State Forum of Vice Chairmen and Vice Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, announced the endorsement during a press briefing in Minna, the Niger State Capital.
She explained that the endorsement ahead of the 2027 general elections was based on the conviction of the 25 women Vice Chairmen across the State, citing the policies and visible projects executed by both leaders.
According to her, Bago has redefined governance in Niger State through courage, innovation, and uncommon determination.
Nasidi highlighted some of the achievements of the Bago’s Administration, including agriculture, food security, infrastructural development, healthcare transformation, education, youth and economic empowerment, grassroots leadership and inclusive governance, among others.
She also commended President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that despite global economic challenges, the President has continued to implement bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for long-term prosperity, stability, and economic growth.
“Today, we stand with immense pride and conviction as the Niger State Forum of Vice Chairmen to formally declare our total and unwavering endorsement of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a well-deserved second term in office,” she said.
Also speaking, Fatima Yahaya Emilugi, the Forum Secretary and Vice Chairman of Lavun Local Government, commended the achievements recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations at both the state and federal levels.
She listed the strides of Governor Bago’s administration in education, healthcare, agriculture, human capital and grassroots development, as well as inclusive governance.
Emilugi further noted that Niger State remains the only state in the country where women occupy all vice chairmanship positions across the 25 local government councils.
The 25 female vice chairmen were present at the briefing and unanimously endorsed the two leaders for a second term.
Meanwhile, Governor Bago recently submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms as part of the ongoing political process within the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.
The governor described the exercise as a demonstration of democracy in action and commended President Tinubu for ensuring due process within the party.
Bago explained that all aspirants, regardless of political status, are required to complete, submit, and verify their forms before proceeding to the screening stage, noting that the process is open and transparent.
He also expressed appreciation to farmers in Niger State, who contributed funds toward the purchase of his nomination form.
According to him, the farmers, through individual contributions, raised over N150 million, out of which N50 million was used to purchase the nomination form.
The governor added that the party is working towards achieving consensus among aspirants across the state.
He, however, noted that where consensus is not reached, the party would adopt direct primaries to ensure a credible process, while reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and the continued development of Niger State.
