Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Thursday rejected claims of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), calling the reports “political 419.”
Speaking during an inspection of road projects in Kwali Area Council, Abuja, Wike accused Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor of spreading false narratives to mislead Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“There is no alliance between the PDP and the APM. INEC recognises that as well,” Wike said, describing suggestions of a coalition as nothing more than political imagination.
“When I say people are fraudulent, they thought I was joking. And that’s the 419 we are talking about,” Wike said.
He added that neither the PDP nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was aware of any such alliance.
“There is no alliance between the PDP and the Allied Peoples Movement or any other political party. INEC also recognises that there is no PDP-APM alliance,” Wike stated.
According to the minister, ongoing political activities within the PDP, including the screening of aspirants, underscore the party’s independence and its lack of coalition arrangements.

“PDP has presented a presidential candidate. When submitted to INEC, it will be clear that there is no PDP-APM alliance,” he said.
Wike further suggested that Governor Makinde was leveraging the APM platform to advance personal presidential ambitions. “What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to pursue his presidential ambition, which is already dead on arrival,” he said.
The minister also clarified that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State had never discussed a PDP-APM alliance, calling the narrative “political imagination.”
“It is unfortunate. This has been his strategy, but he cannot represent the PDP,” Wike added.
On the matter of Rivers State Governor’s continued membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike noted that it was an internal party matter. “The governor has stated that he remains with the APC. There is no problem to address here,” he said.
He reiterated that PDP-related issues remain the party’s internal affairs. “Ask me about PDP, I will respond. Matters relating to other parties are their own concern”.
