…Ondo, Rivers, Kogi, Ebonyi, Bauchi affected
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the names of House of Representatives aspirants disqualified from participating in its National Assembly primaries across several states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the APC said the affected aspirants were marked “not cleared” following the screening exercise conducted by the party’s committees in line with its guidelines and procedures.
BusinessDay reports that the list was supposed to be released before the commencement of House of Representatives primaries on Saturday, but it was delayed for unexplained reasons.
The list cuts across Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states.
Among those disqualified in Ondo State are Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen (Idanre/Ifedore), Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo (Akoko South-East/South-West), Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel (Owo/Ose), as well as Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi and Olaleye John Adedipe (Akoko North-East/North-West).
In Bauchi State, Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello was not cleared for Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, while in Ebonyi State, Hon. Idu Igariwe failed screening for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency.
The APC also disqualified Sanni Salau Ogembe for Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency in Kogi State.
In Rivers State, the affected aspirants include Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara (retd.) for Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki for Okrika/Ogu-Bolo, Awaji Imombek D. Abirite for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro, and Hon. Boma Goodhead for Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency.
The ruling party, however, did not state the reasons for the “not cleared” status of the aspirants.
The development came as the APC intensifies preparations for its 2027 electoral contests nationwide.
