Mojeed Alabi, Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primaries Election Committee in Oyo State, has declared that the primary exercise was conducted peacefully and without rancour across the 14 federal constituencies in the state.
This is as he said that seventy-four aspirants are jostling for House of Representatives tickets on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alabi, the professor who disclosed this during a press conference at the party secretariat, Oke Ado Ibadan, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, noting that there was no record of violence or major dispute during the House of Representatives primary exercise.
Alabi, a former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly stated that the committee was mandated to supervise the elections, collate results, and ensure compliance with the party’s guidelines before forwarding its report to the national leadership of the party for final approval.
“Our responsibility is to superintend over the process, collate results, ensure that things are done properly, and transmit our report to the national executive of the party,”.
While saying that the national leadership has the final authority to declare the results, he explained that the primaries were not conducted at a central venue but simultaneously across wards within each federal constituency in line with the party’s established procedures.
“The committee remains committed to transparency and fairness throughout the exercise. Members were conscious of the scrutiny and oversight from the party’s national leadership.
He advised aggrieved aspirants or party members dissatisfied with the process to channel their complaints through the party’s appeal mechanism, adding that all grievances arising from the primaries will be settled by the appeals committee.
“We are committed to transparency, fairness, and doing what is right within the limits of available logistics,” he stated, adding that the exercise was conducted without bias or favouritism.
The committee chairman further reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy, describing the successful conduct of the primaries as part of APC’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, Moses Adeyemo, the Oyo State APC Chairman, , commended the committee for its conduct and urged members to ensure a process acceptable to all aspirants and stakeholders across the state.
