2023: Group set to mobilise youths to register, vote

A group known as Pull-up Naija said it has perfected plans to mobilise Nigerian youths to participate actively and to vote for candidates of choice in the upcoming 2023 General Elections.

Hauwa Allahbura, the founder of Pull-up Naija, said the group is a concept by the 24 Angels Initiative, which was put together out of a passion for increasing youth participation in the country’s elections and voting.

According to her, members of the group would be organising holy grounds across six geo-political zones in the country to build and sustain momentum for the upcoming elections.

She said that plans have been put in place to launch the first holy ground, which is Freedom Park in Lagos.

“Nigerian youths have not been active in voting during elections because many of them do not believe their votes can count, and we want to change that perception. Our main goal is to drive youths to register, become active voters, and vote during the elections,” Allahbura said.

Allahbura said the group would also enlighten the youth on all the measures put in place by the Independent Electoral Commission to ensure all votes count.

She said that during the enlightenment event, Pull-up Naija would also ensure that youths interact with their role models and captains of industries.

On who is qualified to attend, she said the event in Lagos would be for entrepreneurs, bankers, students, and hawkers and that the people would have the opportunity to interact with their mentors.

She however said that those that register to vote will enjoy free performances from their favorite artistes or dinner and conferences with their role models.

The goal, she said, is to increase voter registration and use that means to increase participation in the upcoming elections.

The first major event is scheduled to hold on May 21, 2022, at Freedom Park, Lagos, and is free to attend so that many would be inspired to cast their votes during the election.
