Fulani herdsmen attack Igangan

At least ten persons were killed early hours on Sunday in Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The suspected herdsmen who invaded the community with sophisticated weapons, entered houses,shooting sporadically.

It was gathered that many vehicles were burnt, including a truck loaded with cassava flour. Also a filling station was also burnt during the incident.

According to a resident, the Fulani herdsmen allegedly wage war on Igangan from around 12 midnight Sunday, no fewer than 10 lives were lost during the invasion.

The resident who spoke under condition of anonymity said no fewer than five residents were shot dead by the attackers while security agents also killed five of the hoodlums.

He said a petrol station, cars and a truck were burnt down by the attackers.

“They burnt many properties- cars, a truck and burnt a petrol filling station.

”We will know the exact number of people killed, those injured and the number of properties they destroyed with time in the morning. It is still dark now things will be clearer later.”

However,normalcy has returned to the area as security personnel have been drafted to the ancient town.

The state commandant of Amotekun,Olayinka Olayanju explained that his “officers are already at the scene of the incident.
