A dividend is a distribution of a portion of a company’s earnings, decided by the board of directors, to a class of its shareholders. In every earnings season, many investors seek to know when their companies will pay the proposed dividends which allow them to make smarter decisions about their money as many wallets dry. Below are few of the recently announced dividends on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) which will be paid latest within next two months.
Zenith Bank (period ended December 2020)
Zenith Bank Plc announced a final dividend of N2.7kobo, bringing the bank’s total dividend for the year ended December 31, 2020 to N3. The final dividend will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members as at close business on March 8. The Register of shareholders will be closed on March 9, 2021 while the qualification date is on March 8. On March 16, 2021, dividends will be paid electronically to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of members as at March 8.
Neimeth (period ended September 30, 2020)
A final dividend of 6.5kobo will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the register of members as at the close of business on February 22, 2021.
The Register of shareholders will be closed from February 23 to February 28. Qualification date is February 22. On March 12, 2021 dividends will be paid electronically to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members as at February 22.
Vitafoam (period ended September 30, 2020)
A final dividend of 70kobo subject to approval will be paid to shareholders whose names appeared on the register of members at the close of business on Friday February 12, 2021. The Register of shareholders closed from Monday February 15 to Friday February 19. Qualification date for the final dividend was Friday, February 12. On Friday March 5, dividend will be paid electronically to shareholders.

United Capital Plc (period ended December 31, 2020)
United Capital Plc announced that a dividend of 70 kobo per ordinary share, amounting to total of N4.2billion, subject to appropriate withholding tax and approval will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the register of members as at the close of business on March 5, 2021.
The register of shareholders will be closed from March 8, 2021 to March 15, 2021 (both dates inclusive). Qualification Date March 5, 2021. On March 24, 2021, dividends will be paid electronically to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members as of March 5, 2021, and who have completed the e-dividend registration and mandated the Registrar to pay their dividends directly into their Bank accounts.
Nigerian Breweries (period ended December 31, 2020)
The Brewer’s proposed final dividend of 69 Kobo per ordinary share of 50 kobo each, subject to the deduction of the appropriate withholding tax and approval at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Company slated for 22nd of April 2021, will be paid to the shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members as at the close of business on the 10th of March, 2021.
The Register of Members will be closed from 11th of March 2021 to 17th of March 2021 (both dates inclusive). Qualification Date is 10th of March, 2021. Payment Date is on 23rd of April, 2021. Dividends will be paid electronically to shareholders (qualifying shareholders) whose names appear on the Register of Members as at 10th of March, 2021, and who have completed the e-dividend registration and mandated the Registrar to pay their dividends directly into their Bank accounts.
