NSE-ASI gains 0.19%

The NSE today closed on a positive note with the ASI gaining 0.19% to a position of 27,574.09. With the market capitalisation posting a figure of 9.47 trillion,  investors staked N1.73 trillion on 242.74 shares in 3,067 deals.

Much like the previous day, banks were the top traded with 66.98 million of UBA shares  transferred in 243 deals.  Skyebank followed suit with 33,259,169 shares in 92 trades while FBN Holdings Nigeria Plc. had 24,040,087 of its shares transacted in 308 deals. Diamond Bank Plc in 98 deals had 22.72 million of its shares traded to a value of N27.40 million.

Food products manufacturer, Nestle led the gainers’ table gaining  N4.99 (0.6%) to close at N830. The company had 266,154 of its shares traded. Oil & gas company, Seplat Petroleum Development Company Ltd. was the runner up on account of a N4.8 gain (1.5%) to close at N325 while 7-UP Bottling Company Plc. gained N2.34 (1.7%) to close at N140. The beverage manufacturer had 254,750  of its shares traded while distillers, Nigerian Breweries Plc. closed at N142.5 on account of a N2.3 gain (1.64%). The brewers had 1,181,687 shares traded in 114 deals.

Julius Berger Nigeria PLC. posted the highest decline. Closing at N39.44 the company dropped by N4.25 (9.73%) with 346,728 of its shares traded. Declining N0.71 (3.59%), FLour Mills NIG. Plc. closed at N19.04 with UBA following after on account of a N0.19 decline (4.14%) to close at N4.4. Financial institution, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Plc. followed with a N0.16 decline (1.37%) to close a N11.5. It experienced a day’s high of N11.66. Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc. was 5th  on the list with a N0.12 decline (9.02%). Closing at N1.21, 55,150 of its shares were traded, translating to a value of 66,740.50,
