3,709 deals were consummated at the market today which gained 0.07% with the All Share Index closing at 27,522.62. Investors staked N3.58 billion on 295.7 million shares with the market capitalization closing at 9.54 trillion.

We saw banks occupying the top ranks of most traded shares with Guaranty Trust Bank on the forefront. The financial institution had a volume of 68.95 million of its shares traded at a value of N1.85 billion to close at N27. Access Bank followed suit closing at N5.43 with 30.76 million of its share traded at a value of N166.33 million. Third from the top was Fidelity Bank which had 26.95 million of its shares traded translating to a value of N24.56 million. The company closed at N0.91 with the day’s high being N0.93.

The brewing company, Guinness Nigeria Plc. led the top gainers’ list on account of a N1.88 change to close at N97.85 up from N95.97 the previous day. 248,379 of its share were traded in 46 deals. Seplat Petroleum Development Company Ltd followed with a gain of N1.87 to close at N320.2 up from N318.33. The oil company had 50,000 of its shares traded at a value of N16 million. Building materials manufacturer, Lafarge Africa Plc. had a N1.7 gain ranking third and closing at N58 up from N56.3. Following suit was personal/household goods manufacturer, Unilever Nigeria Plc. which on an account of a N1.01 gain closed at N40.4 with 1.35 million of its share traded at a value of N54.62 million.

Non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer, 7-UP Bottling Company Plc. declined the most by N7.24 to close at N137.66.  A value of N20.09 million worth of its shares was traded. Oil companies occupied the subsequent three positions as though in a series with Forte Oil Plc. declining by N6.94, Total Nigeria Plc. dropping N1 and Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc. declining N0.72. UACN Plc. followed suit with a N0.7 drop closing at N20.8.
