NSE All Share Index gains 72.5 points

Closing time at the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday 16th August –  Market capitalisation recorded a growth of  N23 billion closing at N9.406 trillion against N9.381 trillion the previous day. Volume of shares traded improved with 3,512 deals consummated compared to 2,978 the previous day as investors staked N2.22 billion on 235.88million shares.

The overall direction of the market as represented by the All-Share Index opened at 27,316.52 to close at 27,389.02 which translates to an increase by 72.5 points.

On the gainers’ table, Total led the ranks with a growth of N8 closing at N248 per share. Nigerian Breweries followed suit gaining N1.48 to close at N134.4 while Guaranty Trust Bank gained N0.43 to close at N24.59.

On the other hand with a drop of N1.89, Presco Plc topped the losers’ chart closing at N36.96 per share; closely followed by Conoil which dropped by N1.12 to close at N21.65. Nestle trailed closing at N824 on account of a N1.02 drop in its share price.

On the Top traded list as at closing time, Zenith Bank signaled the most liquid to investors representing 67.05million shares worth N1.01 billion. With an exchange of 46.7million shares valued at N259.2million Access Bank followed. While 15.6million units of UBA shares worth N67.6million were traded.
