 The ASI closed with a 0.73% drop placing the current position at 27,503.81. With 3,682 deals consummated, 176.77 million shares were traded amounting to a value of N1.88 billion while market capitalization closed at 9.44 trillion down from 9.51 trillion.

Guaranty Trust Bank had the most traded shares. Closing at N27 down from N27.01 the previous day, the financial institution had 31.30 million shares traded in 366 deals amounting to a value of N845.04 million. Financial service provider, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) trailed with 31.03 million shares at a value of N350.86 transacted in 55 deals. Similarly, the 3 subsequent companies are banks (financial institutions) – Access Bank Plc. (17.23 million), Diamond Bank Plc. (13.15 million) & FCMB Group Plc. (13.69 million).

On the gainers’ table, conglomerate UAC Nigeria Plc. led the ranks with a N1 gain (4.88%) to close at N21.5 up from N20.5.  A volume of 530,633 of its shares were traded amounting to a value of N11.29 million. Guinness Nigeria Plc. ranked second on the list with a N0.47 gain (0.49%) to close at N95.97. The distillers had 162,739 volume of its shares traded. Following suit with a 0.09 (1.12%) gain was food products manufacturer/marketer Nascon Allied Industries Plc. which closed at N8.1.

Leading the losers’ list was Forte Oil Plc.which closed at N172 down from N177 on account of a N5 decline (2.82%). Dangote Cement Plc. followed with a N2 delcine (1.14 %) to close at N173 while energy company Total Nigeria Plc. lost N0.9 (0.37 %) to close at N14.  Cadbury Nigeria Plc. followed with a N0.6 decline (4.11%) to close at N14 down fromN14.6.
