Opening the market floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Nigerian stock markets kicked off on a bearish note today as the All shares Index (ASI) which opened with an ASI 28,192.46. lost 2.41% or 678.77 points, to close at 27,513.69, while the Year-to-Date (YtD) return stood at 2.37%.
A total of 4,034.00 deals where sealed to the tone of N7.91 billion for a total of 670.96 million shares, while the equities market capitalization closed at N9.510 trillion.
The top gainers were Dangote Cement Plc, Presco Plc, Stanic IBTC Holdings Plc, UACN Plc and United Capital Plc as ten (10) stocks advances against 41 losers.
Analysis showed that Dangote Cement Plc. sat on top of the advancers list with a N6.51 change in its share price which moved the share price from N156.5 to N163.01 at the closing today. Presco Plc being the first runner up on the advancers list gained N2, changing the share price from N47 to N49 per share. Stanbic IBTC Hodings Plc ranks third in the park of gainers with a N0.5 kobo increase in its share price which opened at N26 to close at N26.5. UACN Plc gained 0.46kobo to close at 15.6 per share from 15.6 and United Capital Plc gained 0.05 kobo change to close at 2.99 from 2.94.
Nestle Nigeria Plc. lead the pack of decliners with a loss of N37 in share price, Total’s share opened at N835 to close at N798. Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc came second on the list of decliners losing N20 of its Share price which opened at N400 to close at N380, Nigerian Breweries Plc also lost N7.33 of its share price which opened at N149 to close at N141.67 followed by Forte Oil Plc which loss N2.52 to close at N47.89 from N50.41 per share and Zenith International Bank Plc loss N1.03 to close at N17.1 from N18.13 Per share.
The financial service sector who led the trade chart was Zenith International Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, EcoBank Transnational Incorporated Plc, FBN Holdings Plc, and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.
