The naira on Tuesday gained N1.42k or 0.71 percent against the dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market as demand pressure shifts to parallel market.

After trading on Tuesday, naira closed at N197.55k/$ compared with N198.97k/$ the previous day, according to data obtained from FMDQ,.

At the Bureau de Change (BDC) segment of the foreign exchange and parallel market, naira weakened by N3/$ or 1.39 percent each as it closed at N218/$ as against the N215/$ sold last Friday at the BDC, while it closed at N220/$ on Tuesday from N217/$ the previous day.

A source from the BDC segment told BusinessDay that the demand for the green back was very high and that the buyers were willing to buy at any available price.
