Gui Guangli Deputy Mayor of Changchun Municipal People’s Government, Jilin Province of the People’s Republic of China is leading a trade delegation to the 8th Lagos Motor Fair and Autoparts Expo Nigeria; coming up at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island from May 10-16, 2013.
The visit which is facilitated by one of the new entrants into the fair First Automobile Works [FAW] of China through its Nigerian office is aimed at demonstrating the desire of the franchisee to make positive impact in the local automotive industry.
Guangli who is also the Head Economic and Trade Delegation of Chang Chung City will be at the event arena with major players in the auto business from the Province who are interested in investing in the country’s automotive sector.
According to the organisers, this visit which is to further cement the robust economic relationship between Nigeria and China seeks to deploy the wealth of experience and resources of the private and public sector of the province in developing the local automotive industry.
Ifeanyi Agwu, Chairman Organising committee of the auto show said that it is a reward for the hard work he and his team have been making since the inception of the event seven years ago. According to him “it did not come as a surprise because we have been strategically working for the fair to gain international recognition and for about three editions now we have been seeing the prayer answered. However, I must point out that we are not there yet.”
He commended FAW in Nigeria for the bold initiative and urged other participants to emulate such; since according to him, developing the event and making it to be entered in the international calendar will bring lots of benefits to all stakeholders in the sector.
Agwu urged the three tiers of governments to emulate because there are vistas of business deals and opportunities they can get from the auto show which can be harnessed to develop road transport and automotive sectors with the attendant multiplier effects on their economy.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the organising committee has revealed that the 8th Lagos Motor Fair is packaged to ensure that both participants and visitors maximise the benefits and potentials that abound in the automotive and road transport sectors. This he said is aimed at fast tracking the sectoral developments and ensuring that the attendant benefits of such rapid developments are fully tapped and unleashed into the economy.
Disclosing this at a stakeholders/media briefing recently, the committee announced that all strategies have been deployed to ensure that the exhibition more than ever before receives the needed attention from participants, institutional, trade, professional and individual buyers as well as visitors.
“We have packaged a show that could effectively be used by to maximise benefits they derive from the fair. This edition will bring out all the potentials and investment opportunities that abound in the Nigerian automobile industry, which we know are very attractive to the existing and potential stakeholders that will utilise the opportunities offered by the event to get the best, he announced.
As a response to the efforts of the organisers, over 15 companies from China have confirmed their participation in the event. The companies include Automobile and Auto parts manufacturers and dealers. 50 Original Equipment Manufacturers of Auto-parts from Turkey are also coming for the event.
