Bacardi partner nightclubs to raise awareness on environmental sustainability

businessday-icon

Bacardi International, a well-known alcoholic spirit with recognised brand presence around the world has concluded arrangements for its premier “Spirit for Life” sustainability driven event, an initiative focused on environmental sustainability in Nigeria.

CSR-in-Action, the business networking portal on sustainability, has been chosen as the implementing partner for this environmental initiative primarily because of its commitment to building sustainable partnerships and promoting ethics and social value re-orientation.

Bacardi has deemed it necessary to contribute towards one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria, Africa, which is ensuring environmental sustainability. This contribution will be achieved through tripartite partnerships with the Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and a select number of popular nightclubs, on a premier recycling drive.

This exercise tagged “Recycle, the Bacardi Way”, will be a two-phased event which will involve the donation of a significant sum of recycle bins to the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA during the day and to some of its partner nightclubs within the Victoria Island axis of Lagos. These bins will come in sets of three – Can, Bottle and Plastic. The night event, the second phase, will see about the promotion of recycling “in a fun way” by encouraging party-goers, celebrities and socialites to be more responsible not only while drinking but also while disposing of these drink bottles. The second phase of this event will be held at the De Marquee Bar and Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos.

To make this a sustainable drive, Bacardi will work closely with the LCDA and the recycling units at LAWMA to ensure these bins are placed in strategic locations within the metropolis, are well maintained and disposed of to appropriate recycling units.

Expected guests at the day event will include notable environmentalists, senior officials from the LCDA and LAWMA, the Vice President, Marketing, Bacardi International, and many more. For the night event, brand ambassadors, celebrities, both local and international will be present for the unveiling and awareness drive with a dress theme and fun games planned.
