New NPA boss assures on rebuilding Tin-Can, Apapa Ports infrastructure

Abubakar Dantsoho, the newly appointed managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), said his administration will pay serious attention to the proposed rehabilitation of dilapidated port infrastructure across the nation.

Dantsoho, who disclosed this during an unscheduled visit to Tin-Can Island Port (TCIP), also vowed to collaborate with port stakeholders to deliver efficient services at the nation’s seaports.

According to him, adequate port infrastructure and robust collaboration with stakeholders will enable the nation’s seaports to attain improved revenue generation through efficiency and productivity.

Speaking with journalists during the visit, Dantsoho said President Bola Tinubu mandated the Authority to deliver efficient port services and improved industry outcomes and that his management team is poised to do that as quickly as possible.

“With the backing of Adegboyega Oyetola, minister of Marine and Blue Economy, I assure stakeholders that the much-talked-about reconstruction of Tin-Can Ports Complex will move from rhetoric to action,” he said.

Dantsoho said that port competitiveness is dependent on sound infrastructure and assured that the NPA will deliver on that necessity to better service Nigeria’s domestic cargo needs and those of landlocked neighbouring nations.

The newly appointed managing director of NPA assumes the new position with over 25 years of hands-on operational experience at the Authority.
