GPPS gets recognition for investing in vessel cleaning technology, innovation

After investing in modern technology used for crude oil tank and vessel cleaning operations and completing the iconic removal of a 36-inch cryogenic pipeline gate valve, Global Process & Pipeline Services (GPPS) Limited, was honoured by Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The company, which has become a reference point for indigenous capacity in pipeline services in Nigeria, received the Pipeline Tool Award, at the just concluded Nigeria International Energy Summit (N.I.E.S 2023).

Obi Uzu, the managing director of GPPS, told journalists that the Pipeline Tool Award was in recognition of the huge investments made over the years.

He said GPPS recently entered into a partnership with IK-Group of Norway to deliver for the first time in Nigeria and Africa, the removal and change out of a 36-inch cryogenic pipeline gate valve.

He said the project, which was executed in June 2022, was the first and largest AOGV technology ever deployed on the African continent to solve long-term stuck valve issues for a major LNG plant.

“GPPS robotic tank and vessel cleaning technology entails minimal man entry which would enhance safe confined space entry and swift cleaning approach,” Uzu said.

On the back of these technological and innovative approaches, he said, the company is targeting continental expansion that will drive its strategic vision aggressively across African countries as a way to maintain its competitive edge over competitors.

Before now, GPPSL had received the Oilfield Services Company of the Year award for three consecutive years between 2018 and 2020 having been adjudged the best in the oilfield services category after an online voting process by industry professionals and stakeholders.

It is the only Nigerian company that focuses solely on pipeline services with major projects completed in the deep-water applications in her product service line.

Headquartered in Port Harcourt, it also has workshops, and a sales office in Lagos with the largest selection of brand-new, high-end infrastructure with capacity that meets global industry requirements.
