Escravos Seaport promoters welcome Dantosho as new NPA MD

Mercury Maritime Concession Company (MMCC), promoters of the Escravos Seaport Industrial Complex in Delta State, has congratulated Abubakar Dantsoho on his recent appointment as the managing director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA).

Rear Admiral Andrew Okoja (retd), chairman of the company, commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing a professional from within the NPA to head such a sensitive government agency.

He said that the new managing director has gone through the ranks, knows and understands the system very well, pointing out that he doesn’t need time to study the system because he has been part of the system from the beginning.

Okoja believes that appointing an industry man to spearhead the activities of NPA is one of the best decisions that will benefit the entire maritime sector positively.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Dantsoho to reposition the Authority for improved efficiency, increased revenue generation and prioritise the welfare of the staff.

He said Dantsoho’s appointment as the new managing director of NPA is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and expertise in the industry over the years.

“We at the MMCC are delighted with your appointment as the new helm of NPA and believe that with your experience, you will move the Authority forward in addressing the hard challenges associated with the ports system across the country.

“He will bring a wealth of experience to bear toward developing Nigeria’s maritime sector, having served in various positions within NPA, including Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager at Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff and Billing,” he said.

Dantsoho holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a master’s degree in international Transport from Cardiff University, both in the United Kingdom.
