Deborah Oluwayomi, a Senior Social Welfare Officer, has asked women to discharge their right responsibility over their children appropriately to prevent the wards from becoming hoodlums.

Oluwayomi gave the charge during the interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Ile-Ife.

She flayed some parents who shirked their vital role over their children and hoping to eat the fruit of the labour they did not work for.

The expert attributed the rising spate of unwanted pregnancy among underage girls to the failure of some parents to give them proper monitoring.

“The future of these children are at risk, for their hope has turned hopeless, no wonder their boys turned to thugs that politicians uses for violence before, during and after elections,” she stated.

However, she lauded the efforts of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun in prioritising qualitative education and called on parents to send their children to schools.

“Atrocities increases across the country and 90 per cent of the crime reported signified youths, for the idle hand is a devil’s workshop.

“I therefore appealed to parents to safeguard the bright future of these young generation,” Oluwayomi said.
