Young Christians must stand firm despite growing pressures – Rev Aderonmu

 

Samuel Adesoji Aderonmu, the lead pastor of New Life Baptist Church, Owode, Ajah, has urged young Christians to remain steadfast in their faith despite the growing moral, economic and social pressures confronting society.

“There is actually nothing new upon the surface of the earth. Pressures have always existed and will continue to exist. Young Christians must resolve not to compromise their faith in the face of whatever pressure they encounter. They should stand firm and trust God for the fulfillment of their God-given purpose,” he said during a recent interview to mark his 60th birthday.

Aderonmu said that challenges have always existed throughout history, noting that the ability to remain faithful to God in difficult times distinguishes true believers.

According to him, biblical figures such as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego and Joseph demonstrated unwavering commitment to God despite intense pressure and temptation, adding that their lives remain examples for today’s generation.

Reflecting on his six decades of life, Aderonmu expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and family, recalling a serious road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in 2010 in which no member of his family died despite sustaining severe injuries.

He described God’s faithfulness as the defining factor in his life and ministry, saying the experience reinforced his belief that God never abandons those who trust in Him. The cleric also recounted challenges he had faced in ministry, including financial difficulties and personal temptations, saying God’s grace enabled him to remain committed to biblical principles.

On the future of the Church, Aderonmu said his vision is to raise genuine disciples of Jesus Christ whose lives reflect Christian values rather than mere religious activities. He added that he hopes to be remembered as a minister who remained faithful to God’s Word without compromising biblical standards.

Commenting on Nigeria’s security situation, the cleric called for stronger efforts by government to tackle insecurity, while urging the Church to continue praying for the nation and citizens to cooperate with security agencies by reporting criminal activities.

He also expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its economic challenges, urging citizens not to lose hope but to remain prayerful and exercise their civic responsibility by voting according to their conscience during future elections.

As he begins a new chapter of life, Aderonmu said his prayer is for greater grace to finish his ministry well, while expressing hope for a Church focused on preparing people for Christ’s return and a Nigeria where righteousness, peace and justice prevail.
