Salihu Sanusi Avidime, rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, has described the School of Engineering as central to the mandate and original purpose for which the polytechnic was established, stressing the need to strengthen technical education and practical training within the institution.
Avidime stated this when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Polytechnic’s Itakpe Campus as part of ongoing engagement with staff and stakeholders across the Institution.
Avidime noted that the visit was aimed at familiarising himself with staff members, understanding their challenges, and identifying areas requiring urgent attentions to enhance productivity and institutional growth.
He reaffirmed that his administration remained committed to improving staff members’ welfare, acknowledging the critical role staff members play in achieving academic excellence and institutional stability, as he called for the support and prayers of staff members, expressing optimism that identified challenges would be addressed through collective effort and with Allah’s wisdom and guidance.
Reiterating his commitment to fairness and equity, Avidime affirmed his stand for justice in the administration of the Polytechnic, urging staff members to remain law-abiding, diligent and committed to their responsibilities while allowing management to address issues of truancy and misconduct appropriately.
Avidime expressed appreciation to Ahmed Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi State, for his continued support and for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Polytechnic.
He also paid glowing tribute to Yahaya Adoza Bello, former governor of Kogi State, for his support and encouragement.
Members of staff, who spoke in turns, assured the Rector of their unalloyed support, loyalty and support for his administration.
