…Felicitates with Muslim faithful on Eid al-Fitr celebration

Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, Archbishop of Kaduna and president, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), says Nigerians are bound together in a common pursuit of peace and righteousness as he felicitates with Muslim faithful on this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration.

Eid al-Fitr marks the completion of the sacred month of Ramadan, which portray the collective discipline in fasting, prayer, and almsgiving of Muslims and stands as a compelling witness to faith, self-restraint, and devotion to God, offering a timely and much-needed example in a world often marked by excess, distraction, and division.

“This year carries a unique significance for us in Nigeria, as Christians and Muslims began their respective seasons of fasting on the same day. This providential convergence highlights our shared commitment to sacrifice, prayer, and reliance on God,” Ndagoso said in a goodwill message to Muslim faithful.

The Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna added that the celebration calls on Nigerians to move beyond mere coexistence and to live as brothers and sisters, working side by side to build a nation founded on justice, truth, and mutual respect, at a time when the country faces serious challenges, including insecurity, economic hardship, and deep social divisions.

He also urged the faithful to draw on the enduring values of sacrifice, solidarity with the poor, forgiveness, and reverence for God with Eid al-Fitr celebration for the healing and renewal of the country.

“At this moment of joyful celebration, we join you in giving thanks to Almighty God, the source of all life and peace. We pray that the fruits of Ramadan may endure, renewing hearts, purifying intentions, and deepening compassion, and bringing abundant blessings to your families and to our nation.

“May this celebration of Eid bring you and your loved ones joy, serenity, and divine favour. May the Almighty God bless our nation with unity, protect all who dwell in it, and guide our leaders in the path of righteousness and in the service of the common good,” the CBCN president stated.
