Ministry launches initiative to support early childhood development

The Caring Hearts Initiative (CHI) of the International Church of Christ (ICOC) Nigeria has launched a new initiative tagged, ‘Heroes of CHI’ to help raise funds for its early childhood development (ECD) programme.

Imagbe Igbinoba, board chairman of the ministry, stated that the launch of ‘Heroes of CHI’ project will help the ministry raise funds to inspire hope and foster connections among vulnerable members of the society.

According to him, every contribution, no matter how big or small, is a step towards achieving the goals of the initiative and creating a positive impact in the world. “We are gathered here not just as individuals, but as a community with a common purpose to further drive the aims and objectives of CHI.”

Igbinoba highlighted some of the key focus, which includes provision of support for over 123 vulnerable children in nursery and primary schools, bursaries and scholarships for 32 students of tertiary institutions and essential monthly drug and food support for 950 vulnerable children from 360 households.

Reflecting the theme of the event, ‘Champions for Children Raffle,’ Igbinoba emphasised the collective commitment towards making a difference in the larger society. “Your presence here is a testament to your dedication and support which plays a crucial role in turning our vision into reality.”

Anthony Osakwe, board member, Caring Hearts Initiative, stated that the importance of the early child development program is geared towards a holistic development of children from prenatal to age six/eight, to include their physical, cognitive, linguistic, socio-emotional, and spiritual growth.

Sola Scott, CHI coordinator, disclosed that the goal is to raise at least N30 million through the sale of 30,000 tickets, structured into booklets containing 20 tickets each. He disclosed further that the raffle draw is scheduled for November 13, 2024.

According to him, the funds raised will support the early child development program’s various initiatives. “An innovative aspect of this fundraising effort is the all-digital payment method, allowing contributions from Nigeria and diaspora in any currency, with cash payments not being entertained.”
